Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: On orders of the O5 council, SCP-XXXX is not to be moved from biological containment cell XX located on site-66. Personnel below level 4 are not permitted access to the containment cell and experimentation and interaction with SCP-XXXX is strictly forbidden.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an unknown substance found contained in site-66 presumed to be an extremely infectious and lethal biological pathogen.
SCP_XXXX was found on xx/xx/17 after cell xx was proposed to store SCP-████ but was found that the cell was already is use. Further investigation of cell xx was met with failure due to the fact no researchers were identified to have work pertaining to cell xx.
Cell xx was found to contain SCP-XXXX and a printed transcript of a heavily expunged experiment log.
Request to research the means to terminate SCP-XXXX is currently pending

Investigation into persons detailed in the test log revealed that (researcher) and stated D-class personnel have all been missing.
Adenndum-2
Numerous documents were found on researcher XXXX's personal computer, which was found inside cell-xx.
The following documents express a minor cognitohazard; all information contained in the following documents is
unable to be recalled 2-3 minutes after being read. The fact that something was read is retained, so is the fact that what was read is important, just not what exactly was read. Due to the nature of these documents and SCP-XXXX all information is to be assumed to be true and acted on accordingly.
Alll documents are believed to have been produced by researcher xxxx, who is currently missing and presumed deceased.
The following is a summary by researcher xxxx:
Due to the current nature of SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-A, I fear this is the only way to prevent a containment breach. I have redacted all information regarding SCP-XXXX and replaced it with a fake experiment log written in such a way as to prevent SCP-XXXX from being interacted with and the current containment procedures be upheld. Hopefully, for the sake of all of us, SCP-XXXX is left alone.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a biological containment cell in site-66 accessible only by level 3 and above personnel. In the event of a containment breach, affected personnel are to be terminated and their remains to be treated with sodium hydroxide. Site-66 is to be also treated with sodium hydroxide.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a prion that initially targets proteins1 located in the brain2 before altering all other proteins it encounters which results in the occurrence of two phenomena: the gradual loss of an affected individual's ability to recall and create long term memories and the rapid decomposition of the resulting cadaver into SCP-XXXX material.
The memory-impairng effects of SCP-XXXX results in subjects initially explicit memory (semantic and episodic memory). This affects the subjects' ability to recall minor facts and the location of objects.
SCP-XXXX then affects implicit memories (spatial and procedural), rendering the subject unable to recall or recognise their current location or perform complex skills. The subject is also unable to create new long-term memories.
Eventually, as SCP-XXXX progress, subjects will 'forget' vital, involuntary bodily function such as respiration, circulation and digestion, resulting in death. This whole process can take between 1-2 weeks.
Approximately 1-2 days after expiration the cadaver will begin to decompose as SCP-XXXX begins altering structural proteins, taking between 7-9 hours for full decomposition. SCP-XXXX created from the decomposition will remain inactive until ingested by a living creature.
SCP-XXXX is extremely resistant to standard denaturing processes and can only be so using extremely powerful acids/bases or high levels of radiation (1000+ rad).
Addendum 1:
Test A - 11/12/2016
Subject: Samples of SCP-XXXX
Procedure: SCP-XXXX is exposed to varying levels of radiation and varying acids and bases.
Results: Acids weaker 0.3 pH and bases weaker than 14 prove to have no effect on SCP-XXXX. Radiation levels below 1000 rad have no noticable effect on SCP-XXXX
Test B - 03/01/2017
Subject: Rattus norvegicus (Brown rat)
Procedure: Subject is exposed to SCP-XXXX to determine it's effects on living organisms.
Results: Subject expresses extreme confusion to surroundings and objects (including food) before to expiring due to cardiac arrest after 4 days. The cadaver decomposes into SCP-XXXX over a period of 27 hours.
Test C - 12/01/2017
Subject: Macaca mulatta (Rhesus macaque)
Procedure: Subject is exposed to SCP-XXXX and is made to perform various tasks.
Results: Subject was notably unable to perform various memory-related tasks before expiration after 9 days.
Analysis: It seems that SCP-XXXX somehow affects the memory of subjects.
Test D - 23/01/2017 3:45 PM
Subject: D-XXXXX
Procedure: D-XXXXX was exposed to SCP-XXXX and monitored for the duration of it's effects. Subject was instructed to do the following every 4 hours: Recall a sequence of 20 single digit numbers, recount a past event, perform a simple skill or task, hide n object and relocate it on command after a period of time has passed, recite a fact.
Day 1: No noticeable effect. Subject performed tests perfectly or with error equal to that of unaffected humans.
Day 2: No noticeable effect. Subject performed tests perfectly or with error equal to that of unaffected humans.
Day 3: Subject has difficulty recalling distant memories and the 11th-15th numbers on the number test.
Day 5: Subject's ability to recall past memories and accuracy on the number test continue to worsen.
Day 6: Subject is unable to locate object 50% of the time. Subject begins to be come uncooperative due to extreme difficulty in recalling past memories and numbers during the test.
Day 7 Subject is unable to recall all past memories including identity, origin and reason for usage in test. Subject was told they were an amesiac affected with retrograde amnesia due to a car accident and were currently in the progress of recovery.
Day 8: Subject is unable to remember information told to him after the effects of day 7 came into effect. Subject is given the same explanation as before. Subject fails all tests except the performance of a simple task. (In most cases subject forgot the existence of a test as soon as their attention was diverted)
Day 9: Subject is unable to perform and action beyond basic motor control and is unable to recognise any object, including their body parts, food and water.
Day 10: Subject expires at 5:45 AM due to sepsis.
Day 11: Subject begins to decompose into SCP-XXXX matter over a period of 17 hours.. Matter is thoroughly treated with sodium hydroxide before incineration.
Test E - 05/03/2017
Subject: D-XXXX, D-XXXX, D-XXXX, D-XXXX
Procedure: All four subjects were exposed to SCP-XXXX before being forcibly terminated in the various early stages. Autopsies were performed on the brain.
Results: SCP-XXXX was shown to attack the cerebellum, closely followed by the prefrontal cortex and dorsal striatum. After the limbic system was affected SCP-XXXX was not observed no other parts of the brain and was recorded in other parts of D-XXXX in minute traces.
Addendum-2
Researcher's note:
It seems that SCP-XXXX is capable of affecting and eventually completely removing memories. It seems that the main cause of death is that the body 'forgets' what it needs to do to live. However, if the process couled be halted before that point, SCP-XXXX could serve as an extremely powerful amnestic, potentially even being used to counter cognitohazards.
Addendum-3
Research into the use for SCP-XXXX to be used as an amnestic has been approved.
Item #: SCP-XXXX-A
Object Class: Thaumiel Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-A is to be stored in a biological containment cell in site-66 alongside SCP-XXXX-A, accessible only by level 4 personnel. Usage of SCP-XXXX-A requires O5 approval
SCP-XXX-A is currently uncontained and it is currently impossible to contain it.
Description: SCP-XXXX-A is a variant strain of SCP-XXXX edited in such a way so that SCP-XXXX-A terminates its function before incurring death in infected subjects. This allows SCP-XXXX-1 to completely remove memories by destroying amyoids associated with said memories without progressing and destroying all basic functions needed for basic function
SCP-XXXX-A is an extremely infectious strain of SCP-XXXX, more infectious than its original counterpart. Once SCP-XXXX-A has infected the brain it will begin to target amyliods ONLY associated with SCP-XXXX and -A. After doing so SCP-XXXX-1 will spread throughout the body without interacting with any other proteins. SCP-XXXX-A does not affect any other parts of the memory and will not cause death.
This results in affected subjects to completely forget about the existence and specific knowledge associated with SCP-XXXX.
Luckily I have been saved from the fate of forgetting because I was shelled up in cell doing research on SCP-XXXXX while everyone else, fellow researchers included, forgot. I contacted (insert name here) after he didn't report to work on SCP-XXXX-A. He asked me what SCP-XXXX was. I contacted all the others and they too, forgot. I, with no other option, compiled all the research we worked hard on into these series of documents and created the experiment logs so even though all knowledge of WHAT SCP-XXXX was, at least it would be seen as a threat.
If SCP-XXXX were ever to break containment then the world would come to and end as we know it. As it spread from person to person, making them forget at first the small things, before making them completely forget who they were, where they were and why they were. But that that point, they would forget to care, and shortly after, they would forget to live. All the while SCP-XXXX-A is working alongside, making sure that all attempts to try and recognise and identify SCP-XXXX are futile.
i have become Death, destroyer of worlds, and i wont even remember it.
